Largely as a nostalgic indulgence, this section begins with some student exercises (though there may be some further justification for them as indicators of an interest in motifs that were to be explored later, as with the Architectural Review covers). Before the setting-up of Ken Garland & Associates, my major design work was as art editor of Design magazine, of which some examples are shown here. After 1962, I incorporated my own work into the company, except for that undertaken for political and social causes.
